Before Me; Before You by Margaret V. Doran
Before Me; Before You
Margaret V.Doran
Dedicated to my daughter Sarah and her husband Jon for their wedding day.
My life stretched like endless night before me
before you
soft black velvet sky with twinkling stars
to eternity and just out of reach always
my soul cried for a dance in the heavens
just one
so that I would know I too was alive
not just going through the charade of living
but it seemed that only loneliness stretched before me
before you
yet God knew the cries of my soul
and He had a plan even I could not devise
Before He invited me, He sent my soul to dance on
electrical current
where it takes two to complete the circuit
and it takes two to still the disquieting of the heart
Then fearful hope stretched quickening before me
before you
as I finally was called to join my soul
in the life dance God had prepared to perfection
And I stepped in to find myself complete and
just one
was the only dance I’d ever need
for through eternity, through sun and stars
I’d dance it with you
