Claudia
Margaret V.Doran
At mid-life when women
are shucked aside
Claudia decided that her life had just begun
She tried on the black shoes
with the little black bows
then clicked her heels and tapped her toes
When her spirit was agitated,
felt sort of antsy
Claudia let it loose in its own flight of fancy
She donned her top hat
and took up her cane
strutted her stuff with wild abandon
And what fed her spirit
went straight to her soul
making her vibrant and making her whole
With a bow on her mid-life tush
and a glitter hat on her crown
she was the only one who could hold Claudia down
It was a new revelation
it took time to absorb this truth
but Claudia's spirit needed its very own place in the sun
