Battling Demons
Margaret V.Doran
You battle with the demons
in your mind
You rage and storm
I am helpless to change things
or wrest control
to turn you back to reality
Your children are convinced
you don’t love them
and sometimes . . . even after all these years
I wonder about me
as your seething anger
blankets your family
I am reduced to moderator
and judge . . . whom you despise
I am almost too weary
to bake you brownies again
but tomorrow . . .
tomorrow I will bake a pie
