Falling
Margaret V.Doran
"No, no," I cry,
not knowing how to awaken your soul
"This is all wrong!
You must believe there is another choice!"
But the wind rushing past your ears
consumes my voice.
"Look, look," I scream,
reaching out
"I am here to catch you!
I will hold you fast!"
But the darkness that surrounds you
blinds your eyes until you've passed.
Over and over I endure, impotent
as you rush ever harder, ever faster
to fatality
your destiny falsely forged
by a cunning, deceptive reality
