Remember?
Margaret V.Doran
"Don’t you remember?" they demand
"How could you have forgotten?"
"If it’s not written down," I remind them,
"It doesn’t exist." Period
The problem, of course,
is that I’ve been saying for years
I would write things down
so that other people could remember
And now I find I can’t remember
what is it I was going to write
and the things I do write seem like
new material when I read them
I must impress upon my children
the importance of writing down
all the funny little things they don’t want to forget
if I can only remember to when I see them.
Oh good! I’ve written it down!
