Waiting
Margaret V.Doran
We'll page you when surgery's done
One waits
in sometimes bustling halls
grief or joy our lot
whichever way it goes
despite our expectations
no one really knows
One waits
in sometimes quiet halls
overwhelmed by fears
whichever way it falls
despite what we might wish for
in these sterile walls
One waits
in sometimes empty halls
clinging to our dreams
despite what God may plan
no matter how it seems for
hope belongs to man
One waits.
